Marketing poison makes perfect sense to me. I would have never thought that the Yellow Pages would have been perceived that way. I would not buy after seeing words like that, in fact, I would expect the BEST or the GREATEST. If I do not get it, that would be bad for that company.
I think that the words that you speak of were dropped from a buyers mind long ago. That is why we as consumers see different marketing strategies each year.
This is good information and even though the general public thinks and feels the same way, I bet they wouldn't even think about all of the "BEST" and "GREATEST" words they see throughout one entire day.
